A FORUM FOR DOCUMENTARY DISRUPTION
an online, open source, peer reviewed journal and annual symposium on nonfiction media.
It is urgent, in these times, to secure spaces where democratic conversations can occur.
Pluralities’ vision is to be part academic journal, part aggregator of underserved global voices and part provocateur to the field of nonfiction film and the visualization of the humanities. The aim is to collect multiple versions of reality in one space in order to question the possibility of any master narrative, filling in the holes of history and the present with experiential knowledge and self-critique.
We are currently preparing for the 3rd Annual Pluralities Conference to be held at SF State University on Nov 4 and 5, 2019. Register for tickets on our website. Keynote speaker, Hamid Naficy (Northwestern University), will be in attendance. We will also hold a special screening of “The Infiltrators” (2019) and forum with filmmaker Alex Rivera and activist, Viridiana Martinez (National Immigrant Youth Alliance).
We accept submissions on a rolling basis for an upcoming volume of our journal “Documentary Disrupted” See guidelines for submission on the journal website.
